What It Really Means to Be a Forbes Expert

People often think being a Forbes Business Council member is just a fancy title on a profile. But it is actually a lot of real work! It takes time, honesty, and a commitment to sharing good ideas.


Here is a look at what I actually do behind the scenes.


1. Answering Weekly Questions

Every week, I get about eight different business topics that Forbes is planning to write about. My job is to share my thoughts on them. I have to make sure my answers are clear and helpful. If my answer is strong, they might publish my comment in their expert articles. This keeps me busy and thinking hard every weekend!


2. Writing Full Articles Every Two Months

Besides the short weekly answers, I also write a full opinion article every two months. For these, I have to pick a good topic and share advice or ideas that other business leaders can learn from.


3. Working with Real Journalists

Some people think I can just publish whatever I want on Forbes. That is not true at all! Everything I write goes through a strict review process:

  • Checked by Experts: Every short comment and full article is read and evaluated by a real Forbes journalist.

  • Teamwork: Most of the time, I know exactly which journalist is reviewing my work. They send me feedback and tell me what I need to fix.

  • Providing Proof: They don't just take my word for things. The editors often ask me to provide proof and evidence for the claims I make.

Why I Love Doing It

Being a Forbes expert isn't just a badge; it is a process. I spend almost every weekend reading topics, writing my thoughts, and working with journalists to make my articles better. It is hard work, but I am very happy to do it! It keeps my skills sharp and lets me share helpful ideas with people all over the world.
